I grew up in Ipswich, a small town north of Boston. My mom is a minister, and my dad runs programs for people living with mental illness. Their work was all about caring for people, and it shaped what I think good work looks like.
I started my career in investing at Alpine Investors and then joined the infrastructure team at Blackstone, spending most of my time with services and industrial businesses and their leaders. I loved the pace of learning and the chance to partner with owners, but over time I realized I wanted to be in the arena with them, building something that could last for decades rather than over a typical five-year private equity timeline. As I continued to meet exceptional business leaders, I also started to see business as an arena where you can learn fast with great teams, have real impact at scale – and do that while treating people with the same care and commitment my parents brought to their work.
In 2020, I co-founded Orion to be a forever home for exceptional people and companies in commercial field services. It is an industry full of essential, hands-on work that keeps buildings running and businesses open. Since we started, we have partnered with about sixty businesses and built three platforms, Astra, Leo, and SunWorks. My job is to find and hire outstanding people, be a partner to them on their hardest decisions, and keep building the Orion system so they and their teams can thrive for many years.
My wife, Jess, and I live in New York City. Outside of work, I am most at home on a run or in the mountains.
Executive Chairman
I grew up mowing lawns in my neighborhood, eventually also fixing driveways, painting houses and running a garbage collection route. As I built my small business through my high school and college years, I learned that I loved hard work and taking good care of my customers, lessons that I carried forward into my career.
I spent the first decade of my career in the industrial services and consumer products industries in sales, marketing and operations roles. In 2001, I helped start a private equity investing business named Alpine Investors, which I then built for the next 20 years. And in 2020, with Alpine now as my investor, I pursued a dream of starting my own business, launching Orion.
Growing businesses in partnership with great people is my passion. With my roots as an operator, I tend to approach business through the lens of the people who are running the day to day. Being an investor broadened my perspective, and I learned to grow through acquisition as well. It also gave the chance to meet countless operators across a wide range of businesses. I learned first-hand that talent is the deciding success factor and that great businesses have certain best practices in common. Starting Orion gave me an opportunity to put these learnings into practice behind one talent-rich, high growth company.
Throughout my career I’ve been fortunate to meet people who believed in me and created opportunities for my growth. With Orion I hope to do the same for as many great people as possible. We aim to be the best facilities services provider on the planet; to achieve this goal we are working hard to make Orion a place where great people choose to build their careers.
My wife, three children, and I live outside of Boston. I like to be outside whenever possible: on the sidelines cheering for my kids, working in the yard, and exercising and having fun in nature.

Head of Execution
I’m from Gahanna, Ohio, a small-town east of Columbus.
I co-founded Orion in 2020 with Isaiah Brown and Will Adams. I was just a few years out of college and was hungry to learn everything I could from founders about what it took to build and grow a successful business. The three of us worked together at Alpine (our majority investor at Orion) and I loved working with Will and Isaiah because they trusted me with a lot of responsibility well before I had proven myself. Joining them on the journey to build Orion was a “no-brainer” decision!
Our mission at Orion is to invest in exceptional people who build industry-leading businesses on a forever horizon. My favorite aspect about what we do is living that mission by recreating the high-ownership opportunities and mentorship that I had in the early days of building Orion.
My role on the team is to continuously improve our investing system so that we’re attracting the highest quality businesses, making great decisions about which companies to bring into our network, and closing our partnerships efficiently. We’ve closed 60+ partnerships over the last 6 years and are getting better with each one!
I grew up in Dubai and went to a pretty diverse, multicultural school, so I love interacting with new people whose backgrounds differ from my own. I came to the U.S. for college because I wanted the freedom to explore a wide range of subjects before diving into a specific degree.
After graduating, I jumped around from accounting to consulting to trading before moving to private equity. I worked at a firm that was handling extremely hairy, messy transactions. My thought process was that if I wanted to learn something, and if I really want to do it well, I should start in the deep end. I got to work with people who were far more senior than myself, and I didn’t always know what I was doing. I had to just figure things out for myself, and that was thrilling.
In my previous roles, it was numbers over everything. The questions were always around the business model and not about the people behind the business and what we could do for them. As I became more curious about the nonfinancial aspects of a business – how to select a leadership team, how to operate on the day-to-day level, and how to inspire an organization to do great things – I realized that Orion was the place where I could expand my own personal skillset. The role was an exciting opportunity to have a lasting impact on businesses, and the work we do here helps me become a better investor and person.
Outside of Orion, you can find me hiking, skiing, and exploring the outdoors. I love traveling, trying new restaurants, and learning about history (specifically Roman, Greek, Indian, and WWII).
Head of Sourcing
I love meeting business owners, hearing their stories, and figuring out how we can be the best partner for them. When I visit a company that started with one founder and a truck, I’m always inspired by the sheer drive of the sellers we work with, and I’m motivated to do right by them if they’re interested in a sale.
Before Orion, I was in a business development role where I didn’t have any skin in the game. I worked with businesses, but I wasn’t a frontline decision maker. Coming to this team, I was excited for the opportunity to learn fast and to be put in situations that required true ownership.
Orion was willing to take a chance on me, teach me, and let me run at any challenge that came my way. That kind of bet-on-yourself environment was very attractive to me. I’ve found that the accomplishments I’m most proud of have come through difficulty, grit, and perseverance.
Outside of work, I enjoy reliving my high school glory days through my weekly football league, I’m an avid poker player, a stand-up comedian, and play a little guitar. Anything involving competition excites me.
I started my career part-time at a pediatrician's office thinking my path would always be in medicine. I loved building relationships with patients while working towards a collective goal: providing the best care for the well-being of everyone who walks through those very sterile office doors.
This then led me to eight years in a fertility center where I had the opportunity to consult and guide parents who were struggling to conceive. I loved directing the patient care experience and seeing our team grow. Eventually, I started to find that the role was straying away from patient care and more towards routine business operations, and I wanted to get back to that initial feeling of putting people first.
Orion consistently pushes forward thinking, autonomy, and growth, and it's exciting to be a part of that support system. Everyone here is always open to collaborate, and the environment is so fast-paced. Each month is so different from the last that each year feels like we’re making major leaps in our growth as a team.
When I’m not at Orion, I’m spending time with my husband and children visiting museums and local festivals.
Finance
As a kid, I spent my summers with my grandfather counting change in his shop. He would jokingly call me his CFO, and I never knew what that meant. I went on to study accounting in school, and I knew that if I wanted to be good at what I did, I had to understand how the numbers work in real life. I worked at large corporations and smaller, local teams, and along the way, I got my master’s, CPA, and CMA degrees.
When I came across Orion, I resonated with the mission of creating a great field service organization. There was a business in my family that later sold to private equity, so I was always interested in investing as a business model.
The people I interviewed with here seemed accomplished and ambitious, but they were also just good people. Orion pushes you to continue to evolve. I didn’t realize how much my professional development was tied to my personal growth – even in terms of how I act on a basic level. Everyone here is so focused on that. We’re determined to make sure we’re doing so well personally that we’re pushing the business forward, too.
Outside of Orion, you can find me working out in my garage (where I’ve got a fully built-out gym and a sauna), strolling down the Tampa Riverwalk, or at the Straz Center enjoying some live music.
I studied chemistry at college here in New York, which I loved. It was essentially the study of problem-solving: you get to apply a wide variety of approaches to answer new questions. I ended up joining an environmental start-up after graduation before coming to Orion in 2021.
I was also a big rower throughout my childhood and in college. After the London 2012 Olympic Games, the UK government invested heavily in rowing, and when a scout visited my school, I figured I would give the sport a try. I fell in love with it immediately, moving schools and even towns to be closer to the sport.
When I first joined Orion, we were dealing with a lot of the challenges that come with starting something new – and I loved that. In my role, I get to focus on analytical work while also helping to drive Orion's long-term strategic vision. As someone who didn’t formally study finance or economics, I've felt lucky to be able to learn and grow with this team. Even now, I’m continuing to develop myself, and that’s something I will always look for in my career.
In the office, I’m known for regularly arriving first out of the team and for my love of sugary snacks! Outside of the office, I enjoy long-distance running, travelling or eating with friends, and spending time with my wife, Julia.
Read more about me in my full profile.
Growing up, I loved playing with Legos and enjoyed math, so I thought I would become an engineer. It wasn’t until I took my first economics class that I realized what I wanted to learn. The combination of math and human behavior opens up the opportunity to solve interesting, real problems.
I came to Orion to join a smaller team that was tackling a huge market. When I interviewed at Orion, there were probably fewer than eight people in the office, and I was coming from a firm with nearly 20,000 employees. We’ve grown incredibly quickly, and each team member is still critical to the success of our company.
We have a lot of responsibility because we have the chance to change people’s lives with our work. The business owners we work with are inspiring people who have built companies from the ground up, and we get to learn so much from them.
Outside of Orion, you can find me pushing myself to my limits with long-distance runs, skiing, and traveling.
While studying English and economics in college, I came across Orion and quickly grew excited to work with a humble and hungry team. I started my career here as a very green intern, and since then, I’ve been a part of almost every function here: I worked as a summer Investing analyst before switching over to Finance. Then, as I was building out our initial marketing efforts, I moved to Talent. Finally, I’ve landed in People Experience & Growth, where I have the privilege to collaborate across the full team to make Orion the best workplace it can be.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky to work with incredibly clever yet kind team members who want each other to succeed. This is a place where you can dive into the fields and projects that interest and challenge you most. We’re trusted with a lot of responsibility to run at ambitious goals. The combination of that trust with our commitment to excellence has driven me to learn more than I could have expected when I was first starting out as an intern.
Outside of Orion, you can find me practicing pottery (wheel throwing), reading literary fiction, and taking a random craft class. (So far, I’ve made a knife, a copper lamp, and some silver jewelry.)
I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 10th grade, I was afforded the opportunity to attend Woodberry Forest in Richmond, Virginia, on a four-month exchange program. This experience opened my eyes to the possibility of becoming both a student and an athlete in college.
I played golf at Princeton, which gave me the incredible opportunity to travel the U.S., play courses I thought I’d only ever see on TV, and make lifelong connections. I joined Orion straight out of college and have continued to travel the greatest country in the world – now meeting with over 300 business owners (and still playing golf, which I maintain is the most important piece of diligence).
When I’m not sourcing businesses or on the course, you can find me getting overly competitive in my soccer league on the West Side Highway.
I’m from a small, rural community in southern Colorado. I spent my summers working on the family ranch, bailing hay, chasing pigs, and volunteering for our local Search and Rescue team.
Growing up, nearly everyone I knew was in the service industry, and many of them started or worked in family businesses. I saw firsthand how important a legacy can be to a family and, in turn, how important a family business can be to its community. With Orion, I have a direct line of sight to helping families and founders achieve their goals.
I see myself as an educator on what an investment with Orion could look like. I enjoy meeting business owners, understanding the unique stories behind their success, and working with them on the goals that matter most to them.
When I’m not meeting business owners, I’m usually enjoying nature. From climbing 14ers to catching high alpine cutthroat on the fly, I love the outdoors and all the activities that come with it.
I grew up in a huge sports family: at 6’1”, my twin sister and I grew up the shortest in our family of six. My parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles all live within five minutes of each other, and we have deep roots in California. My siblings, cousins, and I all went to the same small Catholic school where my grandparents met as first graders. Family is everything to me, and I’m blessed to live so close to them.
I played volleyball at Stanford University where I won 3 Division 1 National Championships. After graduating with my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, I moved to New York City to experience the world outside of California. I spent a few years doing market research before joining Orion’s sourcing team.
It’s the people I’ve met at Orion that make my job so rewarding. Whether it’s my colleagues who support and push me to do better or the founders I’ve built friendships with who run incredible service businesses, I feel very blessed to have these folks in my life.
When I’m not working, you can find me learning how to cook a new recipe, working out, or at a family dinner.
As a student, I interned at a very small startup: it was essentially two founders in a condo with seed funding, so I did everything from cold calls to product demos to user prospecting. One of the founders told me I was great when I got on the phone with people and suggested that wherever I ended up professionally, I should focus on that. I shifted into recruiting, and in doing the job, I found it extremely rewarding. I love learning about people’s strengths and helping them take the next step in their careers.
As I got more experience, I realized I wanted more of a partnership stake in my work with hiring managers. Rather than just handing off searches once the offer letters were signed, I wanted to have true ownership in the roles I hired for.
When I met the Orion team, I realized the industries they hire for are actually a perfect fit for me. So many of my friends attended technical school, but none of them work in the trades today. There’s a major gap between the workforce and the companies that actually need that work. Through Orion, I saw that I could marry my own strengths as a talent partner with their mission to highlight the attractive opportunities in skilled labor. I definitely feel like a true stakeholder with my hiring managers, and the work is exciting: despite our size, our processes aren’t bureaucratic, so we can move at a fast pace.
Outside of work, I like being active (going to the gym or playing soccer), enjoying the beach whenever I can, and spending time with my friends and family. I love to surround myself with stories, whether that’s through books, movies, or podcasts, so feel free to drop me a recommendation if you have one.
My career has taken me through some wonderfully unexpected places. I started in the expert network world, learning about everything from subsea engineering to pharmaceuticals. From there, I earned my MBA while moving deeper into the startup and venture capital space. Along the way, I worked in executive search, moving from having startups as clients to working within a startup as a first executive recruiter. Ultimately, I landed fully in executive recruiting, where I’ve been helping leaders build the teams that drive their businesses forward for the past decade.
I came to Orion because I wanted to support the people who keep essential industries running and who do work that truly matters. I love being part of a company where great talent can make a real difference in the lives of the communities they serve.
On this team, kindness and effectiveness live side-by-side. As someone who has always been fascinated by the intersection of structure and humanity, I love that I can build healthy hiring systems here that bring clarity, consistency, and opportunity to everyone involved.
When I’m not thinking about talent, you can usually find me in the kitchen cooking through the New York Times Top 100 recipes (which I’ve done three years in a row). My passion for cooking started while I was living abroad in Spain, and now it’s how I recharge my creative energy. I also find joy in traveling, planning my next adventure, and picking up hobbies that remind me there’s always something new to learn.
I’ve always been curious about people’s stories. I loved reading and writing as a kid, and when I got to college, I expanded that curiosity into culture by studying communications. While in school, I wrote for the magazine, interviewing business owners all around New Orleans to get their stories out into the world.
Now, you’ll find me interviewing exceptional talent to join our team at Orion. I’m building out our sales hiring function and expanding our recruiting capabilities as our organization evolves.
I’ve learned so much from the smart, kind, funny people on this team. Everyone has such full lives both inside and outside of work, and we’re all proud of what we do. I feel lucky to work on a team that reminds me of the people outside of work I admire most.
When I’m not hiring, I’m cooking a new type of pasta, baking banana bread, writing poems (without using ChatGPT), visiting my nieces and nephews, or playing pickleball.
I’ve always been interested in small businesses. In college, I wrote a thesis on the role of social capital for minority-owned small businesses in Chicago, and the interviews I conducted with founders were some of the most invigorating conversations I’ve had. It’s probably a large reason why I enjoy spending time with business owners now.
Orion has become an amazing community for me. It’s an environment where I can be challenged, where I’m respected, and where I can have fun.
It’s easy to believe in the vision and values of our company when every person on our team is living them. I’m proud to share that not only with our potential partners but also with my friends, family, and aspiring investors.
In my free time, I’m still studying up on the journey of an entrepreneur, both online through my favorite podcast, “How I Built This,” and in person shopping at my local farmers’ market.
My former search firm introduced me to Seth Matheson just as my previous company was winding down; the timing was serendipitous. I knew right away that Orion was a leader, team, and company I wanted to be a part of! What keeps me here is the people and the level of autonomy I'm trusted with. I'm surrounded by incredibly driven, smart, and talented individuals who constantly push me to grow, and I really value the opportunity to take ownership of my work and make an impact on both Orion and our businesses.
I bring a combination of strong execution and a genuine passion for finding great leaders — I'm focused on exceeding our team's goals, but I also care deeply about making the right matches that truly move the business forward. Of our six values, Partnership resonates most with me. In my role, it's not just about filling positions — it's about truly understanding the businesses we work with and building trust with candidates and stakeholders. The best outcomes come when you take the time to listen, align, and act as a true partner, placing leaders who don't just fit the current need but are people we see building long-term careers here.
Outside of work, you can find me taking a fun workout class or spending quality time with my husband, newborn son, and our golden retriever, Bo!
My family had a ranch in southeast Texas, where my siblings raised cattle. As the youngest, I wanted to be different, so I chose to raise goats, eventually growing my initial herd of two animals to 50. I would wake up at 5 AM to put out the hay, and after getting home from school, I would muck the barn.
Growing up in a family from the trades, I’ve always respected tangible, real businesses. I had a serial entrepreneur for a dad, so I was always in and around small businesses. I was not a very mechanically inclined child, but I was very book-smart, so I decided I would be the first in my family to go to college. I studied economics and anthropology, and along the way, I fell in love with accounting.
I came to Orion because this is where I can work with people who remind me of my family. This is a place where good people can create good jobs for good people. Even after business owners sell to us, a lot of our work is about helping their companies thrive long after the sale using our unique skills. That continued partnership allows us to live up to the promises we make.
Outside of work, I love travelling with my husband, Davis. We’ve made pretty strong progress on our goal of visiting all seven continents and all 50 states.
After working various jobs from tour guide to camp counselor as an undergraduate student, I started my career in social work helping refugees find jobs. I shifted into admissions counseling and then moved into a recruiting role.
Throughout my career, I’ve loved helping adults navigate their next steps. My many career transitions were only possible because I had people who believed in me each step of the way, and I enjoy being that supporter for others now. I help professionals find the path that works best for their skillset while making sure they don’t lose what makes them unique. The hiring process requires a lot of trust, but the right job will want them for who they are. I’m there to remind them of that.
This is especially true at Orion. We want exceptional people who fit the culture and who inspire us to continue improving. The people here care about the business, but they also care about themselves: they care about growing as people so that they can show up better for their team.
When I’m not finding amazing talent to join our team, I’m probably at a concert, a dance class, or at acting school, which I attend part-time. I’m a big reality TV watcher (specifically The Amazing Race), and I love catching a Broadway show whenever I can.
Career counseling has always been a big part of my life. My mother focused heavily on my education, so throughout my childhood, I took part in many coaching programs where I spoke with professionals in different industries about their jobs. Those opportunities made a big impact on me, and I’ve tried to pay it forward by volunteering as a career coach and college counselor myself.
I started my career in the expert network space, which reaffirmed how much I enjoy connecting with people and learning more about what they do. From there, I shifted to executing recruiting at an agency and gained a lot of experience running search processes. I wanted to be in a space where I could place people long-term, and that was when I found Orion.
Because we have a small team, there’s so much room to grow and to make this experience my own. Whatever you want to learn, this role gives you a lot of freedom to take initiative and do it. Everyone at Orion is always focused on improving, and that comes out in everything from our business model to the conversations we have over lunch.
Outside of work, I like to travel, spend time with my friends, and make art (specifically portraits and photography).
I started my career as a financial representative in the trading space and quickly learned that I love talking to people and don’t love trading. Since pivoting to human resources, I’ve been in the talent industry for the past 15 years, touching every field from financial services to manufacturing to technology and placing people at all levels.
The candidate match-making process is so connective, and at Orion, I get the opportunity to collaborate even more deeply with the team. I love working with managers across our companies to help build out new functions, design new roles, and create sustainable structures for growth. We can make a real impact here as partners in talent.
With my father in the landscaping field and my in-laws in the HVAC industry, it felt aligned and meaningful to work in the field services space. There’s an immediate impact from the work our businesses do.
Outside of Orion, I love spending time at the beach with my family and exercising. In a past life, I was a pilates and barre instructor, and I’m also a licensed esthetician!
I started playing lacrosse in second grade and ended up playing through college. It was a big family sport for me (my dad still coaches at my high school to this day), and I loved being a part of a team.
I always enjoyed business, so I took accounting and economics in college. As a part of my studies, I joined the entrepreneurial pathway, which encourages students to build their own on-campus businesses to fill a gap in the student body experience. I designed a campus food delivery service that combined with the work-study program to provide more employment opportunities to students while bringing a service to the school. The project definitely gave me more insight into what actually running a business looks like.
I worked at a bank after graduating, and after a few years, I realized I wanted a role that would enable me to make a stronger impact. I wanted to go from rote tasks to analytical projects where I would have a stake in the results. I knew Orion was a fast-growing team, and that this would be a fantastic learning experience for me. It was scary but exciting to take the leap to become a true contributor and owner of my work.
When I’m not at Orion, you can find me reading (I love every genre except self-help) or taking a workout class.
I studied finance and international business because I knew I always liked math, and I wanted to learn how to apply it to the world. During college, I also worked part-time at a healthcare firm and completed a few internships in the legal field to get a better sense of how businesses are actually run.
I went into banking after graduation, and though I was able to learn a lot, I didn’t get to see the long-term outlooks of the businesses I worked with. I wanted to pivot to a role where I would have a stronger relationship with the companies I worked with.
At Orion, I’ve learned more than I could have imagined in a shorter time than I could have expected. The work here is hands-on, and I get to take ownership of my own projects. Everyone on the team is also super supportive and flexible. We all try to understand and adapt to each other’s working styles, which allows us to be even more efficient when we collaborate.
When I’m not working, you can find me skiing, exploring new restaurants, or credit card reward hacking in my time off.
I grew up just south of Boston and stayed in the area for college, where I graduated with a degree in Applied Math. Toward the end of high school, I began working as a bartender and continued working at the same bar throughout college. I loved the job: it was fun, fast-paced, very hands-on, and required a touch of teamwork to make everything fall into place.
I interned at Orion and chose to return full-time after a great summer experience. I really enjoyed working with everyone, from my fellow interns to Isaiah, our CEO. On our team, there are very few layers between you and the person leading the deal, which means you’re given meaningful responsibility early on. One of my favorite parts of the role is getting to speak directly with business owners – an opportunity junior team members don’t typically get at other firms.
Outside of work, I’m a huge Boston sports fan and try to spend as much time outdoors as I can, whether that means skiing, golfing, or heading to Fenway for a Red Sox game – something that has become a little harder since moving to New York City.
The adventure of building a company from the ground up has always excited me, so in school, I knew I wanted to dive into business. I started with accounting because it’s the common language across all companies, and I soon realized I wanted to find a place where I could combine the analytical with the entrepreneurial.
When I first met the Orion team, they spoke a lot about trusting people with responsibility early on in their careers, and that philosophy jumped out to me immediately. Nothing in your life is driven by anything except people, so why wouldn’t that be the main focus of a business?
Through Orion’s summer analyst program, I saw that that belief in putting people first held true. This team is committed to developing young professionals, and as someone who’s been through a handful of other internships, I could tell that Orion was light years ahead in terms of the autonomy they trust their team with. As a kid, I had spent my summers mowing lawns and working for a family friend’s construction company, so I’ve always valued the services industry. Orion felt like the perfect opportunity to merge my past with my personal interests for my career. This was a place where I could be a part of an adventure to build one of the best commercial field service businesses in the country.
In my free time, I like working out, listening to house music – whether I’m seeing my favorite DJs live or DJing myself – and traveling to new places.
I’ve played hockey since I was three years old, taking three years off in between high school and college to play in Canada and New Jersey. I love how fast-paced the sport is, and I like being part of a team.
I studied politics, philosophy, and economics in college because I thought this would be the best way to get a broad understanding of the world. After graduating, I wanted to learn how to run a strong business and dive deeper into what makes a good investment.
I rejoined Orion after my summer internship because it was clear that these were motivated people I wanted to continue working with. Everyone cares deeply about developing their team members and investing in businesses with great talent.
Outside of Orion, you can find me running (with the eventual goal of completing a marathon) and exploring neighborhoods all throughout New York City.
